Camp BEL Rules

By registering to camp at Camp BEL all campers accept these rules.

Camp BEL is a Scout Canada camp which is not for profit and run by volunteers. We try to keep the fees at a minimum for Scout use and as such we request your cooperation in the supply of consumables and follow the few rules which are for yours and our safety.

The Scout Law is the Law of the Camp.

Leaders are responsible for the youth and their actions while at Camp BEL.

  • You must have liability insurance through Scouts Canada or Girl Guides or show proof of private insurance to be at Camp BEL.
  • Campers are responsible for cleaning buildings after use and leaving campsites better than they found it.
  • A telephone is available in the main building, for emergency use #519 268-7703 Emergency 911.

  • Any long distance will be billed to your group
You are responsible for supplying:
  • All consumables such as toilet paper, sink cleaner, dish towels/cloths, soap for dishes, hand soap for washrooms, and plastic garbage bags.
  • Blue boxes are available for recyclable material.
  • There is a limited supply of dishes, cutlery, pots and pans available in the kitchen for your use when you have booked the kitchen. Please do not assume we have everything.
  • We have a good and varied supply of activity equipment that can be supplied on request at the time of booking.
  • Each camper should bring their own camp mess kit which should include mug, bowl, plate and cutlery.
  • If you intend to use the bunk houses ,bring you own bedding and mattress.
Fire: (practice a fire drill!!!)
Every person must be careful to prevent fires. In case of fire: evacuate the building and notify (1) the fire department then (2) the Camp Ranger. Fire extinguishers are located in each room by the entrance doors. All campfires must be set in the containers supplied and be "dead out" before leaving camping area. Review the evacuation plan located on the Grand Howl Hall bulletin board.

Health and Safety:
Accidents and sudden serious illness must be reported immediately to the Property Manager. Leaders are responsible for the health and safety of youth in their charge. A Scouts Canada Incident report is to be completed for every injury or illness. Each group must have on hand, their own First Aid Kit. There is Emergency First Aid Kit located in the Main Buildings hallway. It is a basic kit and does not contain bandages and antiseptic for minor cuts and bruises.

Campers Please Note:
  • No motorized vehicles, other than officially approved camp vehicles, are allowed on camp property while a camp is in progress (except in an emergency).
  • Vehicles will be taken to parking lot and left there for the duration of the camp.
  • Vehicles can be used to assist camp set-up and tear-down but only before camp opening and after camp closing.
  • Operation of camp motorised equipment will only be driven/used by authorised Camp BEL personnel.
  • Use main entrance on East side of property. Use of the West entrance to campground is by special permission.
  • The Leader in charge will be responsible for reporting any damage to the property.
  • Any equipment scattered, i.e. picnic tables, fire wood around the grounds will be returned to where it was found.
  • No trees or plants, dead or alive will be cut down or removed.
  • Do not trespass on private property, our boundaries are clearly marked.
  • Firearms are strictly prohibited on Scout property
  • Fireworks will not be used at camp without prior approval
  • Archery equipment and BB guns will only be used with prior approval
  • Consumption of any alcoholic beverages or illicit drugs on camp property is strictly prohibited.
  • No swimming is allowed in the Thames River.
  • Respect all wild life on the grounds, do not kill or hunt snakes, birds or animals.
  • Unless invited, do not enter or pass through occupied camp areas.
  • No pets allowed on camp without special permission.
  • Fires are allowed only in designated areas.
  • You are responsible for leaving buildings or gates locked when vacating the property.
  • You are responsible for any theft or damage due to your failure to secure the buildings and grounds.

    Remember: These are all common sense

    Have a great and safe time.
